I have worn makeup pretty much every day since I was around 13 (excluding the days I’m staying at home OBVIOUSLY– I’m not wasting my high-end mascara when I’m just binge-watching Netflix!), so that’s a longgggg five years. Along the way I have picked up so many different techniques, found holy grail products and definitely been through my ‘oh god really’ products- you all know about the classic Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse…say no more!
However, recently I’ve bee getting a couple of compliments on my makeup from friends and some of you (which is honestly so sweet-thank you!!), so I thought why not share my makeup routine and chat through the products I use, explaining why I LOVE them! Now there is for sure the days where I go alllll out with the makeup, but sometimes I don’t use all of these products if my skins having a good day, or if I simply CANNOT be bothered!
ALL ABOUT DA BASE:
*Barry M Flawless Colour Correcting Primer is what I ALWAYS start off with. It’s super smoooooth and a little goes a long way (thank god cause I NEED it!), and it’s also green which acts a colour corrector which is great when my skins a lil’ red!
*Collection Lasting Perfection Concealers are my favourite things in the world. I honestly doubt I will EVER use a different concealer. They are incredibly cheap at around £4 each, and now come in normal and colour correcting shades! I use the green one over blemishes/red areas before foundation and a normal light one under my eyes after foundation. GET YOURSELF ONE, TRUST ME!
*L’Oreal True Match Foundation has been an ultimate fave of mine for agesss. I’ve gone into depth when comparing drugstore foundations in –THIS– post, but I gotta say, the coverage and colour match is perfect, I love it.
*Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder has been in my makeup bag for as long as I can remember. It’s literally £3.99 and keeps my base makeup on for ages- what more do you need?!
*Tanya Burr Rose Flush Cheek Palette is just something I picked up because I’m a huge fan of Tanya, however, I was SO surprised at how much I actually love this trio palette! I have stuck with this palette for two years now as the shades are perfect for my fair skin! I bronze/contour with the bronzer, add a lil’ bit of the blush and then brush on the highlighter on cheekbones, cupids bow, brow bone and nose!
*L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist Setting Spray is an essential for me, especially in extreme weather like summer or winter. My makeup lasts SO MUCH LONGER with this baby, I just spritz it after all base makeup/eyeshadow is done, but BEFORE mascara because otherwise, I find my mascara ends up smudging!
EYES N LIPPIES
*Maybelline Brow Satin Eyebrow Pencil has been featured in quite a few of my posts as it is honestly incredible. I’m a brow pencil kinda gal as I feel like I have more control over the brows. I fill in and shape my brow with the waxy pencil end, and then swap to the powder end which fills in the sparse areas! These make my eyebrows look so natural but gooood-cause trust me, without this I barely have any LOL.
*Blank Canvas Cosmetics Master Series One Palette is one of the only high-end makeup products I own and I frickin’ love it! Although I change up my eyeshadow products pretty much every day, this is one I ALWAYS gravitate back to. I have a whole post about why I love it oh so much –HERE– which I really recommend having a read of!
*Benefit They’re Real! Mascara was a gift from my besties for my birthday, and since then, I haven’t gone back! Although it breaks my heart that a mascara is £20 (whereas I usually try to find the best one for a fiver…), I can say it’s TOTALLY worth the money. My lashes are soooo long and volumised with this!
*Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lipstick- Bear Hug is the perfect everyday lipstick! It’s creamy consistently as it has vitamin E in it makes it easy to apply and I love the finish which is a kinda satin/silky vibe! But I do love to give my lips a break now and again- so good old vaseline does me just fine!
I know by no means I am not the best at makeup in the world, I have a HELLA long way to go but I really just wanted to share ultimately my favourite makeup products. I know it’s nice to try a new product now and again, but difficult when there’s so much to choose from, but if you are on the hunt for any new ones- I really recommend these!
This beauty post is a collab with my gal Kate who has a gorgeous blog over at LifeinKateish where she has also shared her everyday makeup routine- so go and have a read of her post for DOUBLE the makeup recommendations!
